Good for cuddles is a pretty decent selling point, if you ask me.
[She takes the drink, and sips it, giving a little murmur of approval. Good shit, they had here. She really was getting spoiled. How the hell was she going to go back to Thedas like this? She glances over at Krem, and lazily drapes a leg over one of his. She doesn't want to start shit off serious, but she can't help but wonder.]
Do you miss Thedas...? You must've traveled around a lot, with the Chargers. I did a bit of traveling myself, but...
[She takes a deeper sip of the drink, contemplative. She was probably being a downer, but hey, that's how she operates! Systematically ruining everything around her.]
Whenever people ask about the good things in Thedas, I'm like...Well. The dogs are nice. There's a few assholes left there that I'm pretty fond of. And, uh. The dogs.
[She waves her hand around, and shimmies to curl up against him.]
I don't know. I guess it doesn't matter. I have to go back at some point. I have too much shit that no one else will be cleaning up.
[He makes a small sound as he thinks, wrapping an arm around her and smiling.]
I miss The Chargers. Can't say much about the dogs, but The Chargers.
[He sighs a little.]
See, we...The Chief kind of collects people. The Chargers are that. We're a good task force, but...we're an ever better family. We're the people no one wanted, so The Chief took us in, gave us a family, a purpose.
[His voice is warm, fond.]
He looks big and bad, but he's really a big mother hen.
That sounds great. Just collecting people who need to do something with their life, who need something to live for.
[She curls up to him, though her expression is somewhat distant.]
That's what the Wardens gave to me. I mean, I'd like to say it was why I joined, but I joined because it was that or get executed, so yeah, pass me the damn chalice.
And it's what I tried to make the Wardens into. I recruited people who needed the Wardens as much as we needed them.
[That's what she'd told Nathaniel when she conscripted him. She'd told him that the Wardens would give him what he needed. And that'd turned out pretty good.]
Maybe it stuck. I don't know. Didn't really expect an order I tried to form into something like a family to kill each other to fuel blood magic for a demon army, but you know. What family reunion doesn't have a little blood magic.
[The words are spit out far too casually, pressing a face devoid of emotion into his side. After a pause, she shrugged.]
But I don't think you invited me here to listen to me whining.
